Tamika is renowned for her large-scale land and seascapes that capture the raw beauty of Australia's coastline.
Self-taught and inspired by her deep connection to place, her work blends vivid detail and expert use of colour to create an emotional connection to place.

When I first stumbled upon this cluster of Nyutsias, I knew I had to paint it. They immediately made me think of a group of emus standing together- their skinny legs sticking out from their full and bushy skirts. I can’t not personify Nyutsias; they all have so much character and individuality! But this group especially.
This scene makes me want to throw out a picnic rug and watch the shadows grow long into the evening. Perhaps with a glass of rosé in hand.
I thought for a long time about the right name for this piece, and eventually “A Midsummer Gathering” came to mind.
The Bulga to the right, and the gums off in the background... The emu Nyutsias clustering over some gossip. A perfect little Australian bush soirée taking place on the bush telly. That’s what I see…
